In early June, Denver Health employees officially completed the Westside Hanfling Challenge, contributing approximately $330,000 and unlocking former Board Chair Josh Hanfling’s $100,000 challenge gift for the new Sam Sandos Westside Family Health Center. Together, the challenge generated more than $400,000 in support of Westside’s future.
More than 1,000 employees stepped forward to make the challenge a success, bringing Denver Health closer to building a new home for one of its oldest, busiest, and most beloved community clinics. Their generosity sends a powerful message: Denver Health employees believe in the mission, the patients, and one another.
The challenge was inspired by Josh Hanfling, a longtime Denver Health Foundation board member whose leadership and generosity have helped strengthen Denver Health for more than a decade. Even after concluding his formal board service at the end of last year, Josh continues to advocate for Denver Health and inspire others to support its future.
“Denver Health is one of the most important institutions in this city,” said Hanfling. “It is there for people every day, in every kind of circumstance, and I am proud to support the work that makes that possible. I am so appreciative that employees have joined me in supporting Westside’s future, and their response has been incredible.”
Through the Westside Hanfling Challenge, Josh invited Denver Health employees to join him in supporting the Westside Capital Campaign. Their response reflects the commitment that defines Denver Health: showing up for patients, neighbors, and teammates.
