Denver Health Foundation Board of Directors Welcomes Three New Members

Esteemed community leaders drive Foundation’s vision forward

Board Chair Josh Hanfling expressed enthusiasm about the new members.

“We are delighted to welcome Rose, Fred, and Read to the board,” he said. “With their strong ties to Denver, they will play a crucial role in enhancing the Foundation’s presence in our community and reinforcing our dedication to the well-being of Denver Health patients and the entire city.”

Rose Andom

Rose Andom transitioned from roles at Hallmark and Ford to owning and operating six McDonald’s locations, including three at Denver International Airport. She served on the National Black McDonald’s Operators Association board for more than 20 years in various positions, including vice chair for four years, before her retirement in 2015. Rose’s community involvement includes significant donations to nonprofits like Denver Rescue Mission, Warren Village, Women’s Foundation of Colorado, and Food Bank of the Rockies. She played a pivotal role in the creation of the Rose Andom Center for people experiencing domestic abuse in 2016.

In 2013, former Denver Mayor Michael Hancock honored Rose by proclaiming October 31 “Rose Andom Day” for her leadership and willingness to give back to the city. She received the Colorado Black Women for Political Action’s “Tribute to Black Women Award” for business in 2014 and the “Women of Distinction Award” from the Girl Scouts of Colorado in 2016. In 2024, Rose was inducted into the Colorado Business Hall of Fame.

Fred Glick

Fred Glick, a commercial real estate developer and urban planner, specializes in adaptive reuse projects in Denver’s urban core. As the vice-chair of the Denver Planning Board and a member of the Lower Downtown Design Review Commission, he plays a key role in shaping the city’s development. Fred is actively involved in various organizations, including Downtown Denver Partnership’s Denver Civic Ventures board and Planning and Urban Impact Committee. His nonprofit board experience includes leadership roles in RedLine Contemporary Art Center, the Academy of Urban Learning (a Denver charter school for unhoused and at-risk students), Clayton United (his neighborhood organization), and the American International School of Johannesburg.

Read Pierce, M.D.

Read Pierce, M.D. serves as Denver Health’s Chief Quality Officer and oversees the health system’s clinical quality and patient safety programs. Read previously worked at the Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin (Dell Med) and at University of Colorado (CU). At Dell Med, he served in many roles including co-chair of the Joint Practice Council for Quality, Chief of the Division of Hospital Medicine, and Associate Chair of faculty development and well-being in the Department of Internal Medicine. At CU’s Anschutz Medical Campus, Read spent nearly a decade leading clinical transformation efforts as Director of Quality Improvement and Clinical Innovation within the Division of Hospital Medicine as a co-founder and Associate Director of the Institute for Healthcare Quality, Safety and Efficiency. From 2017-2020, he was part of the National Taskforce for Humanity in Medicine and helped to lead a national pilot program blending efforts to improve quality and patient experience with interventions to reduce clinician burnout.

Denver Health Foundation thanks outgoing board members for their service to the Foundation: Haroun Cowans; Mike Ferrufino; David McReynolds, who served as board chair from 2008 to 2013; and Elizabeth Peros, who served as board secretary from 2019 to 2022.
