Senior Communications Specialist

Michael Schiavo serves as the Foundation’s communications specialist, leading communication efforts, creating engaging content to promote and enhance the reputation of the Foundation, and staying current on industry trends to inform strategy.

With a bachelor’s degree in humanistics from the University of Connecticut, Michael holds a master of fine arts from the Bennington Writing Seminars and a master of arts in Eastern Classics from St. John’s College.

As a seasoned writer and poet, Michael’s work has been featured in prestigious publications such as The Believer, Boston Globe, Hartford Courant, and The Yale Review. Beyond his literary pursuits, he has dedicated his time to philanthropic endeavors, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and other organizations committed to alleviating poverty.

Driven by a profound belief in Denver Health’s mission to provide unwavering care to all individuals, regardless of their financial circumstances, Michael is deeply committed to addressing the underlying social and economic factors that impact health outcomes. He finds immense fulfillment in contributing to Denver Health’s efforts to eliminate disparities and create a healthier, more equitable society.
