NEWBORNS IN NEED PROGRAM

Newborns in Need focuses on our community’s smallest, most vulnerable citizens. Each year, more than 3,000 babies are delivered at Denver Health.  Unfortunately, many of these children are born into families who are struggling financially, often forcing them to make heart-wrenching choices between buying items of necessity for their baby or paying their rent.  But this is the dire situation thousands of new parents face each year in the great Denver Metro area.

PATIENT ASSISTANCE FUND

The mission of the Patient Assistance Fund is to help provide access to necessities for medical care to those patients with no other source of support

At Denver Health we believe it is our responsibility to provide care for those in need. That’s why we created the Patient Assistance Fund to meet the specific needs of patients who have no other health care resources. 

Denver Health serves the most vulnerable residents of Denver, and although we provided more than $450 million of uncompensated care to uninsured patients in 2011, even that amount of money is not sufficient to meet the enormous needs of our patients.

In 2012, the Patient Assistance Fund met the diverse needs of more than 2,400 patients who could not afford medications, treatments, appointment co-pays, transportation needs, and medical devices necessary to improve their health status. The table below summarizes these results.

Your donation will fund our neediest patients including the poor, uninsured, mentally ill, pregnant teens, persons addicted to alcohol and other substances, victims of violence, the homeless, and people living with AIDS. Learn More

The Child Life Zone

Imagine for a moment that you have a serious illness that requires hospitalization or even surgery.

Now imagine that you're a child dealing with this scary experience. 

At Denver Health, we understand how stressful and frightening a childhood illness can be. It's why we're so proud to provide the Child Life program with The ZONE. 

The ZONE is designed to meet the special needs of children coping with illness and hospitalization. Staffed by Child Life specialists, who are experts in early childhood development.  The ZONE offers a safe haven from daily hospital realities and a place for children and their families to relax, play, and learn about the treatments they are about to receive.
